NED Wows the Crowd
On May 2, 2008 the NED Show came to Glenwood. Through storytelling and yo-yo tricks the NED Show encouraged and inspired students to Never give up, Encourage others, and to Do your best. The NED Show promotes academic achievement and character development by teaching every child that they are a champion.

Friendship Bell Art Competition
Mrs. Hodgers, the art teacher at Glenwood, has been teaching detailed drawing techniques using a model. The students used their skills to draw a reflection of the meaning of the Friendship Bell. Fifteen pieces can be seen at The Corner Gallery in Grove Center from April 5-April 30. We are so proud of the following students awarded monetary prizes: Gabriel Sparks (First Place), Deanna Campbell (Second Place) and Jeremy Vaughn (Honarable Mention).
Reading at Glenwood
Glenwood students can be found reading everywhere! In the classroom students are involved in small literacy groups where they are practicing phonetic skills, fluency, and comprehension. In addition, students are reading books and taking Accelerated Reader tests. This spring our new AR web-based program will allow students to take tests on most books found in the home and library. Glenwood is also sponsoring a lunchroom library. Students in grades 2-4 can read a book after they finish lunch. To support reading, the library is now open in the mornings from 7:45-8:15. This time allows students the ability to exchange books, take AR tests, and work on projects for the classroom. The staff at Glenwood is working extremely hard to make sure every child is reading at or above grade level.
